The Infinite experience at Viceroy Bali

After staying in beach town Seminyak for a week, we headed to Ubud for some cooler mountain air and spend a few days in a green, lush environment. The Viceroy is draped on a hillside above a Balinese river on the edge of Ubud, which is about a 45 minute drive from Seminyak and about an hour from the airport. (By the way, there’s a helipad for those in a rush with too much money.)

Upon arrival at the Viceroy Bali we were greeted with almost Hawaiian leis, made of Frangipani flowers, as soon as we entered the lobby. The Viceroy is full of these personal touches that underline that it’s a small, intimate family owned resort, not to be confused with other hotels with the Viceroy name. We were driven to one of the 25 private villas in a golf cart and in the blink of an eye, ran through the large living room to take a splash in the private plunge pool before even fully unpacking

It was immediately clear what the enormous appeal of Ubud, and the Viceroy in particular, is: because as we took in the breathtaking scenery from our infinity pool, we realized that as we looked up and down the valley, we could not see any person, or in fact, any structure or object created by men! Even though it was the middle of the day it was quiet, all we could hear were some crickets and a distant frog.

Every morning we couldn’t wait to see what Belgian master chef Nick had created for breakfast. Nick is not a lazy man, because the breakfast menu he served at his Cascades Restaurant was enormous. We loved the fact that we didn’t have to shuffle along buffet tables, but could just sit casually at our table overlooking the valley and enjoy the friendly waiting staff bringing the lovely selections to us.

We tried many lunch selections and had wonderful dinners during our stay at the Viceroy. Even if you don’t end up staying at the Viceroy, I highly recommend having a meal at Cascades when you’re in Ubud.

Another highlight I should mention is the Lembah Spa. It is situated on the edge of the mountain, overlooking the wide valley from a serene corner of the resort. We enjoyed a lovely couples massage for over 90 minutes and just like Cascades, I think you can’t go wrong picking the Lembah spa for a treatment when you are in Ubud.

    as I told you with my comment on your last post this hotel is one of my absolute favorite dream places on earth and I really hope to get there once in my life. It looks like a place of freedom and happiness and I love such places very much. I traveled a lot in my life but this would be a highlight out of all I think so. Thank you so much for sharing such beautiful and stunning pics with us :-*
