The last time I visited Greece was the summer after my high school graduation. I went to Chersonissos on Crete with my school friends. We had lots of fun but it was everything you see on bad reality tv-shows: literally nothing to write home about! I have heard so many great stories about Greece since, that I really wanted to visit another island and go for an entirely different experience. Rhodes seemed like a beautiful destination and as I read and heard more about it, I decided to take a chance and go for a place further south on the island. We were going for tranquility and relaxation, above hustle and bustle and convenience.

We took a late flight and arrived at White Village around 1pm, after an hour and something drive from the airport. Although the reception was closed during these hours, we had received clear instructions on how to enter our villa which went smoothly. We found a basket with fruit, a bottle of water and a bottle of wine waiting for us, so we immediately felt at home.

The villa was just stunning. It was bright white, brand new, with typical Greek touches but in a modern and cosy way, with Pinterest-worthy details. I loved little things like the night stands, that hung from the ceiling with large ropes. It was also absolutely spotless and very large, with two bedrooms with comfortable beds and two bathrooms, a sun terrace on the second floor and a large garden with a lovely pool. This was a place I could stay for weeks! The kitchen was complete, with no less than two coffee machines for the boyfriend and every necessity to cook for a large group or family. But it also had an ironing board and iron, a washing machine, hair dryer, fridge and freezer and three tv’s – plus quick and reliable internet access, something more important to me.

I just loved using the private swimming pool every day. The villas are built very smartly, with walls for maximum privacy, but on a slope with a lower wall from the garden looking towards the ocean. So you have privacy yet never feel locked in a compound, it is just a wonderfully open design. This is a place I would highly recommend to honeymooners or just for a couple on a mini break. Although we didn’t want to leave after 4 days, because like I said, I could have stayed here for weeks.

White Village is really a little greek slice of paradise, as you can hopefully see from the pictures. It has a mini market for your basic needs, a small gym and even a cute, tiny chapel. It’s a short walk or drive to the center of Lachaina, which is a typical Greek village untouched by tourism. Important to note: we drove all around the island and you definitely need to rent a car to really enjoy Rhodes. But look no further, the beaches on the southern coast near White Village are the best beaches on Rhodes.

Ammos Beach Club //
Run by a lovely warm and welcoming family, it’s located at just a 10 minute drive from White Village. It was quiet and beautiful even in the middle of peak season. Great food, awesome cocktails and, here we go again: fast internet, even while sitting with my toes in the ocean! Make sure to bring your own beach towels that White Village provides, rent a bed or a straw hut for a few Euro and just relax.

Meat & Beer Square //
A 30 minute drive, in Pefki. Although the name may not appeal to us ladies, the food here is excellent, with a great variety of meat, salads and greek delights such as grilled eggplant and the best tszaziki we had on Rhodes. The staff is very friendly and you should definitely ask them for recommendations. Who knew the boyfriend would ever enjoy grilled eggplant as an appetizer?

Taverna Platanos //
Located at 5 minutes from White Village in the heart of Lachina, this is a real local spot on a small town square, surrounded by narrow alleys and archways that offer a beautiful backdrop to take lots of pictures. If you like white houses and colorful flowers, make sure to take a few minutes to stroll around. And food wise, you can not go wrong with the octopus and lamb at Taverna Platanos!

    I love the Greek islands and I could go there every year. Rhodes is still on my travel bucket list and your pictures about the hotel and the beach look very beautiful so that I feel going there as soon as possible. This year we have booked our holidays for Mykonos.
