A CAREFREE STAY AT THE AMBA HOTEL

I tacked on a few extra days during my last trip to London for Stradivarius, because I just love the city and all the excitement it offers! The Amba Hotel Marble Arch, formerly known as Thistle Marble Arch, has just completed a multi-million refurbishment and with its strategic location on Oxford Street, it provided a fantastic starting point for some serious retail therapy.

The Amba Hotel Marble Arch has over 700 rooms, but nonetheless the room I stayed in was large and had good size storage for the things I brought – and bought.

I’m not a big coffee drinker but I appreciated the in-room Nespresso machine. The complimentary iPad and the large array of USB, UK and international socket standards were also at the top of my list of things I loved about the Amba.

One of the things I really liked, was the complete absence of hidden fees. This is unfortunately a rare occurrence so I really want to highlight this. I hate hotels with minibars that have sensors that even charge you if you take something out to look at, but then place back in the fridge. You end up getting charged for looking at a chocolate bar and a tonic?!

So many hotels charge absurd prices for internet access and some even have the audacity to charge a fee *per device*. In my case, with usually two laptops, a camera with wifi, an iPad and an iPhone, this can cost up to, well, the price of a room! I had no such issues at the Amba, because it offers unlimited high speed and hassle free internet. There is a complimentary breakfast that can even be served as in room breakfast without any extra fees and top it all off, a minibar with soft drinks and snacks that is also entirely complimentary.

All in all, you can’t go wrong picking the Amba Hotel Marble Arch if you are looking for a centrally located quality hotel with everything you need and want during a London stay.

  2. I have never heard of them leaving you with an iPad, that is so different. Thanks for the tip, this place looks like a decent place to base yourself. London is so big, I always end up staying in a different part.
