A hotel to add to your bucket list: ME LONDON

I’ve been traveling full-time these past two months, with little to no time to upload and update you! But the good news is that I now have so many stories to tell and I can’t wait to share everything.

As most of you may know if you follow me on Instagram, Stradivarius was so kind to invite me for their Event Paper Party during London Fashion Week and since I had a some days open, I flew in early and spent a few days at one of the trendiest hotels in central London: ME London. It is conveniently located at The Strand, walking distance from Covent Garden with the best theaters, restaurants and an overdose of retail therapy.

I was completely blown away by this hotel, and it started at the check-in, which was an experience on its own. The lobby is located in an impressive atrium that’s shaped like a pyramid and has the height of the entire hotel.

An enormous glass skylight illuminates the entire space and creates a wonderfully warm atmosphere. It is truly a unique structure that I can’t compare to anything else. It is modern but not too minimalistic, with many marble details that give the ME London its own vibe. I was offered a nice glass of prosecco and I was off on a wonderful stay. Walking to my room I immediately loved the dark hallways, that have a mysterious but lovely fragrance.

My room, that was actually more an apartment with a living room, a separate bedroom and a gigantic bathroom, was very large, bright and light. A wonderful bottle of champagne and an assortment of sweets was waiting for me!

The bathroom was enormous with a his and hers sink, a double(!) walk in shower with large rainfall shower heads and a lovely tub with bubble options.

The walls of my room/apartment were covered in leather padding, which I really liked. The more I travel, the more I have come to appreciate the details and finer features of hotels and ME London seems to offer an endless supply of these.

The snacks in the minibar were cool and different, there was special mood lighting throughout the room, sliding doors that double as curtains plus a small surprise every night during turn down service.

Important for me, but I think every traveler today, is complimentary Wifi that is fast and hassle free. Gym rats will be pleased by the Technogym equipment in the well equipped gym downstairs.

The ME London has two restaurants on its property: Cucina Asellina and STK London. The Cucina Asellina serves a daily breakfast buffet and an extensive à la carte menu and the room service for in room breakfast is also served from this kitchen.

The STK London is more a lounge, with dj’s and large leather booths, but it’s actually a high quality American style steakhouse. With all this culinary choice, I opted to experience a luxurious afternoon tea at the Radio Rooftop Bar on the 10th floor of the ME London, where hotel guests have preferential entry.

I enjoyed a menu with a variety of savory and sweet treats, while marveling at the gorgeous London skyline and many iconic sights. I started with no less than 7 different finger sandwiches, of which the compressed watermelon with feta and black olive tapenade was my absolute favorite.

The finger sandwiches were followed by a palette cleanser aptly named ’the Nitro Fruit Burst’, which included popping candy! Then it was onto the hot scones with delicious cream and jam and a selection of pastries and desserts, including my personal favorite: lemon meringue pie. And last, but certainly not least, I throughly enjoyed the delicious strawberry and white chocolate lollipop. So when in London, you simply must experience the afternoon tea at Radio Rooftop Bar!

All in all, the ME London offered a warm and relaxing atmosphere with an extremely professional and friendly hotel staff that provided a true 5 star experience. If you are looking for an amazing hotel experience, the ME London should be on your bucket list!

  3. I’ve always wanted to visit London and now I know where to stay when I’m there! The entire place from the lobby to the room is just insta-perfect; I love the avant-garde design of the seating area in the lobby, and the atrium looks like a high-tech room! And the high tea is so amazing too, gosh it looks so good and I bet they were delicious! Always a big fan of your travel posts Merel, keep it up! 🙂 xo~ Lena
