Monte Santo

As we drove through the gates at sunny Monte Santo resort near Carvoeiro, I expected a busy, bustling place just because it looked so glamorous. I was wrong: once inside the beautiful resort, the atmosphere was serene and calm and there was no need to wake up early, put down a towel on a lounge bed and claim my spot!

The soft pink exterior (my favorite color!) with the curved walls and tiled roofs help set the mood: relaxed, laid back and focused on enjoying the sun and the pool! Because although there are many beautiful beaches within a short drive, I have to admit I spent quite a few hours laying by the gorgeous pool. It is surrounded by beautiful plants, there are sun beds actually in the water and nice cabanas just a little off the paths, for maximum privacy.

Our suite was also something to see: a large bed room, huge living room with a fully equipped kitchen and two full bathrooms! After a few weeks on the road we really enjoyed doing some laundry, getting groceries and cooking at ‘home.’ Monte Santo really oozes that kind of relaxed, homey vibe. The resort offers all the amenities and services you expect from a five star property, but it somehow feels like a place you can spend weeks, if not months.
