For someone who didn’t think she would ever enjoy the cold, it is just amazing how I have changed my mind and absolutely loved going back to the Austrian Alps! After a quick drive from Innsbruck Airport we arrived at the Nidum, a modern Tyrolean boutique hotel just outside of the quaint town of Seefeld. The hotel is practically new, with a young couple as the family owners who are doing everything to create a unique experience.

We stayed on the top floor in a beautiful suite, which was more like a high end luxury condo. It was a dream come true to stay in a suite with not just a separate living room (with fireplace!), walk-in closet, kitchen, two bedrooms, a magnificent bathroom with walk-in-shower and large bathtub, and even a private sauna! The view across the valley was breathtaking, which was accentuated by the enormous floor to ceiling windows that spanned the entire suite.

Unfortunately I can only speak about the breakfast experience, because we didn’t have the opportunity to enjoy lunch or dinner at the Nidum. But if it’s anywhere near the quality of the breakfast buffet, I definitely want to go back and try the halfboard option! We had an amazing breakfast in the room one day, which is still my favorite thing to do in a lovely suite like this one. Yet, the breakfast buffet is a feast in itself with large selections of meats, cheeses, cereals, breads and fruit available every day. There’s everything I could want to start the day right and get ready for a full day on the slopes or exploring the surrounding area.

The main feature of the hotel is surely its spa, which offers a magnificent view of the surrounding mountains from practically every corner: the terrace, the pools and even when lounging inside on the beds around the indoor pool.

I really enjoyed swimming from the indoor pool to the outdoor pool, as well as just spacing out in the huge jacuzzi. The spa area also features saunas, steam baths and a no-bathing suite section. Still, my favorite moments at the Nidum were the afternoons at the edge of the infinity pool, staring at the mountain peaks across the beautiful Inn valley.

If you’re looking for a different mountain experience than the run of the mill ‘wooden walls with checkered table cloths’ hotels in Tyrol, than the Nidum is the place for you. It’s design without being pretentious and informal yet stylish. Highly recommended!
