Singapore is one of my favorite destinations! I visit several times a year ususally on my way to, or from, other beautiful places since its location and its airport make Singapore my favorite hub in Asia. It’s only a few hours to most places in Indonesia, Thailand or Vietnam, just to name a few beautiful countries. But Singapore is a gem in itself that is often overlooked, and it shouldn’t be!

LOCATION //
KēSa House is located in the heart of Chinatown on trendy Keong Saik Road, with the popular Potatohead and the spectacular Burnt Ends restaurant from star chef Dave Pynto right across the street. It’s only a few blocks to the very efficient Singapore subway system, the MRT.

THE KēSA HOUSE CONCEPT //
KēSa House is owned by 8mcollective, leaders of the flexible living concept in Singapore, and is different to conventional hotels in that offers a completely different way of traveling and living. Situated in a row of converted iconic shophouses, KēSa House wants to be your home-away-from-home with obviously your own room, but also with all the facilities, comfort and utilities you expect of a real home. This makes it a perfect choice for both a short staycation and a long-term stay. Guests have access to shared spaces, like the KēSaLounge (essentially the living room), KēSaKitchen (a fully equipped kitchen) and KēSaTerrace (outdoor terrace). I really enjoyed the complimentary coffee and snacks, while the free 24/7 launderette was really practical as we were almost a month on the road.

OUR ROOM //
KēSa House has a total of 60 guest rooms under five different room types: Cozy, Urban, Sky, Entertain and Studio. The room configurations are designed to accommodate the different needs that travellers can have. Suitable for longer stays, some rooms have a kitchenette and a couch area, whereas the room we stayed in was the loft-like Skylight Double. The skylight was particularly enjoyable for us as we were staying during a full moon! The room wasn’t large, but very practical. The bed had special storage space to for our luggage and even a shoe rack. Ashley & Co Shampoos and conditioners indicate that quality reigns supreme here and I liked the reusable glass bottles that can be filled for free.

FOOD //
There are a number of different dining options at KēSa House, the building actually has no less than six bars and restaurants. We had breakfast at the Affogato Lounge, where we enjoyed Dirty Chai Lattes (with a shot of espresso to kickstart the morning), the duck croque monsieur and a panino with. cheese and truffle. Not your average breakfast staples, each a very original and wonderful dish.

–
In the evening we went back to the Affogato Lounge to try our first ever affogato dessert. Affogato is an Italian coffee-based dessert, served with a scoop of ice-cream and doused with a shot of hot espresso. The Affogato Lounge serves different types of affogatos and we opted for the Trilogy, with 70% dark chocolate ice-cream. I highly recommend it, even if you’re not a total chocolate fan!

EXPLORE YOUR HOOD //
I can’t say enough about the location of the KēSa House in the heart of Chinatown. Admittedly, I didn’t think too much of Chinatown before ever going there, because in some cities around the world these are not the most fun areas to stay. But in Singapore, I highly recommend staying in Chinatown. It is close to the Marina Bay area, the Central Business District (CBD) and still not too far from even the entertaininment area of Sentosa of the shopping at Orchard Road. Definitely take the time to walk around, there are so many fun streets with restaurants and shops and absolutely check out the Maxwell Food Center and the Chinatown Food Center. It may not be the most romantic experience of your life, but you will rarely eat better food in a more local environment than there.

Your travel photography is an absolute dream! I had no idea Singapore had such a warm and inviting atmosphere to it in the more suburban areas – and so much colour, too! The lighting in your hotel room in one of the photos is like a piece of artwork, wow….
