Capella Singapore, the oasis on Sentosa Island

Having had the opportunity to experience some of the most luxurious hotels in the world is surely one of the biggest blessings of my life. However, my recent stay at Capella Singapore was truly exceptional. What makes staying at Capella Singapore so special is its focus on creating personalized and memorable experiences for each guest.

ARRIVING IN STYLE //

From the moment we arrived at the airport, we were treated like royalty. Despite the fact that we arrived after midnight, there was a friendly representative from the hotel waiting for us at the gate who escorted us swiftly through immigration into a waiting limousine. It was a smooth and hassle-free experience, setting the tone for what was to come.

Capella Singapore is nestled on Sentosa Island, a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Popularly referred to just as Sentosa, which means peace and tranquility in Malay, the island is actually a peninsula just minutes away from downtown Singapore, yet full of lush greenery and lined with palm trees along white sand beaches.

As we arrived at Capella Singapore, we were warmly greeted by the staff and whisked away in one of the buggies that are used to transport guests around the expansive 30 acre property. Upon reaching our One Bedroom Garden Villa, we were immediately struck by its grandeur and luxurious amenities. The villa boasts a massive living room, a private plunge pool of decent size and a lovely bedroom with a comfortable king-sized bed. The villa is thoughtfully designed to provide guests with the ultimate relaxation experience, featuring automatic curtains and the hotel’s renowned Aesop amenities. To our delight, we also found a sumptuous charcuterie board accompanied by fresh fruits and a bottle of red wine, which served as the perfect indulgence for a late-night snack.

MEMORABLE EXPERIENCES //

The hotel’s dedication to crafting personalized experiences ensures that each guest enjoys a unique and unforgettable stay. What sets Capella Singapore apart is its attention to detail and the personalized experiences it offers. The luxury feeling is not only created by the luxurious accommodation and the stunning views of the South China Sea but also by the little touches that make each guest feel valued and special.

Our first day at Capella Singapore was filled with adventure as I enjoyed a wonderfully relaxing massage at the award winning Auriga spa, before being driven by a friendly driver in a comfortable Range Rover to the charming neighborhood of Katong for a one-of-a-kind experience from the Capella Curates program. Led by local expert Yap, we strolled through the colorful streets and visited private museums, while taking in the sights and sounds of this vibrant area. Yap’s knowledge of the Peranakan culture, a unique and fascinating blend of Chinese and Malay influences, was incredible. We indulged in traditional Peranakan snacks and delicacies at some of the neighborhood’s best spots, trying out nyonya (sweet rice dumplings) and laksa (spicy noodle soup), which tantalized our taste buds with unique flavors and textures.

After our exciting tour in Katong, we returned to our villa. As we stepped inside, we were pleasantly surprised to find a plate of freshly baked madeleines and chocolates waiting for us, which made for the perfect sweet treat after our adventure. Throughout our stay, we were continuously impressed by the hotel’s thoughtful amenities and little surprises in our room. From calming oils to specialty teas and even lavender sachets for bedtime, which helped create a calming and peaceful atmosphere.

FROM OYSTERS AND ROTI PARATHA TO TRUFFLE PIZZA

That night we were treated to dinner at Chef’s Table. I still dream about the amazing champagne and fresh oysters. The display of seafood is spectacular and the restaurant has a very cozy, Parisian vibe. Of all the dishes we enjoyed, the experience of pairing a Canadian oyster with Scottish whisky was something we will never forget!

The next morning I was blown away by the level of service and the diversity at the breakfast buffet. Not only is there an extensive selection of a la carte options, but our server even remembered my order from the previous day – right down to how I liked my coffee! From the many delicious dishes I tried, the Indian roti paratha was by far my favorite. The crispy, flaky bread was the perfect accompaniment. With plenty of international and local dishes there was something for everyone at this breakfast feast.

Breakfast is served at Fiamma, the restaurant next to one of the three(!) pools. After thoroughly enjoying breakfast there, we just had to come back to Fiamma for lunch, which has an Italian theme. We especially loved the truffle pizza, the tagliatelle with blue lobster, the meatballs with a lovely ginger, tomato basil sauce and still regret being so full we didn’t order a second serving of their most amazing tiramisu.

DON’T MISS

As you can tell, we tried to discover as much as we could while staying at Capella Singapore. A few highlights I haven’t mentioned yet but are definitely noteworthy, are the complimentary Afternoon Tea in The Living Room, the class on how to make your own boba tea and the morning stroll down to the family-friendly Palawan beach, the most southern point of continental Asia that is located at the foot of the resort.

In conclusion, Capella Singapore is a true gem in the heart of Sentosa Island. From the moment you are greeted by the friendly hotel staff, you’ll be enveloped in an atmosphere of luxury and elegance. The personalized service, spectacular food and stunning natural surroundings make this resort a top choice for discerning travelers seeking a relaxing and indulgent getaway.

Whether you’re looking for a romantic escape, a family vacation, or simply a few days of rest and rejuvenation, Capella Singapore has everything you need. The resort’s proximity to nature provides a refreshing contrast to the bustling city life just minutes away, allowing you to truly unwind and recharge.

Overall, I highly recommend Capella Singapore for anyone seeking a luxurious and personalized staycation. Make sure to spend at least a few days here during your next visit to Singapore – you won’t regret it.
