Father’s Day is celebrated on different days around the world, which only means us girls suffer from the same problem at different moments! In the US and most European countries Father’s Day is tomorrow, the third Sunday in June. I think dads are the most difficult people to give a present. Not because they are difficult people, obviously, but because most fathers never want anything for themselves. So you end up looking for a tie he will never wear, a scarf that makes him look like Sherlock Holmes or a pair of socks with a humorous print that is never funny. Moms are so much easier to shop for.

So one suggestion is to go for an experience that you know your dad will enjoy, instead of giving him a present that he will pretend to like when he unwraps it. This year my brother and I are taking my dad to the Sunday Roast at a nice restaurant on the Amsterdam harbor. If the sun comes out, the chef will cook a three course meal on the Big Green Egg barbecue. Barbecued meat, water, daughter: score! If your dad is more an activities kind of guy, take him go karting with your brother(s) if you have one, have lunch on a boat somewhere or take him sailing. My boyfriend says you usually can’t go wrong when your Father’s Day gift is a combination of high protein food (he means meat), motorized movement (boats, planes, trains, automobiles) and a nice view.

To be on the safe side, we are throwing in the one and only beauty product that I know my father, who shaves every day, can’t resist: a shaving combo by Italian-based brand Les Indiennes. They make some of the best cosmetics products available and I got things from their refined men’s shaving and grooming range that features 100% natural (vegan), high quality and simple to use products. Products that they claim ‘are made with love and inspired by the flavors of the Mediterrean.’ I believe it! I am giving my dad the shave soap (le noirs pour monsieur No. 5), the aftershave balm (waltz in darkness) and organic soap (poppy and cypress). The packaging is presented beautifully in a minimalist, elegant design, so I guess I’m doing okay this Father’s Day. What are you giving your dad?
Shave soap // Le noirs pour monsieur No.5 //200 ml // € 36,50
Aftershave Balm // Waltz in darkness No.8 // 100 ml // € 28,75
Organic soap // Poppy and Cypress // 100 gr // € 7
