When I checked in at the Bisma Eight, I had no idea that there was such a beautiful restaurant and lovely pool (with fully stocked pool bar, not unimportant…), almost hidden on the property. You can’t see either of them from the street as you drive up. But as you can hopefully see from my pictures, these are destinations in itself that you should visit even if you’re not staying at the Bisma Eight.
ROOM //
We stayed at one of the Canopy Suites, which have balconies over the courtyard and are very spacious and well designed. Using the sliding doors makes it possible to split the suite into three separate spaces: a comfortable lounge area, a bedroom with a comfortable kingsize bed and a large bathroom that features something I had never seen or used before, which is a large wooden, Japanese-style onsen style soaking tub. That thing is a pool in itself so make sure you have some time to fill it up! You can also opt for the Forest Suites which are tiny bit smaller compared to the Canopy Suites, but instead offer a spectacular view over the forest.
POOL //
I enjoyed walking through the courtyard to the pool, where the garden opens up and suddenly you see a beautiful lush, green valley lying in front of you. The infinity pool offers stunning views over this valley, hanging out in it was pure bliss.
I loved the fact the pool has its own fully stocked bar with a large variety of original drinks, plus a quite serious food menu. And that food at the Bisma Eight really deserves a special mention…
FOOD //
The Bisma Eight only opened last year and ever since, it has done its utmost best to develop its Copper Kitchen & bar into a culinary destination. And with that I don’t mean that they created an expensive restaurant, on the contrary because it is very affordable, but Copper serves a truly original cuisine with local products and fresh ingredients, always created with an original twist and chic presentation. Australian chef Duncan McCance puts a modern twist on traditional recipes, mixing texture, colors and flavors that I could have never thought of, but go really well together.
And I have to admit: his restaurant is very Instagram ready! Copper serves not only delicious, but also colorful dishes. Take something that looks simple, like fries: Duncan serves ubi fries, which are made from sweet potato and you MUST try these! Copper is one of the best, if not the best, restaurant that I have visited on Bali and as you perhaps know, I have lived in Bali for a few years, I travel there every year and I really can’t think of a place in Bali where I enjoyed eating more than at Copper.
I strongly recommend you to have lunch or dinner at Copper, even if you are not a hotel guest. Although staying at the Bisma Eight does offer the benefit of also having breakfast included, which I loved as well because it offered a nice variety of things to order from a menu, instead of a buffet.
Also worth mentioning are original touches like a cocktail workshop.
Because, as you can tell from my gushing review, I really can’t wait to go back! The Bisma Eight is a very welcome addition to the Balinese hotel scene with wonderful rooms, a lovely pool and above all an amazing restaurant.
