Escape to Los Angeles

If you follow me on Instagram you might have noticed that I recently spent some time in California. Since the weather in Amsterdam wasn’t that great at all I had an overwhelming urge to pack my bags and recharge with sea, sun and city. And in that case Los Angeles is the perfect escape.

Staying in Los Angeles, you obviously want to be able to get to the world famous beaches of Malibu and Santa Monica quickly, but not miss out on all the shops and restaurants of Beverly Hills. Which is why I find the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel a fantastic spot: situated beautifully underneath the Getty Museum, practically at the intersection of the 405 freeway and Sunset Boulevard. Leave the hotel to the left and you’re in Beverly Hills within 15 minutes. Drive right and in the same amount of time, you’ll be walking on the beach of Santa Monica.

When you reserve a room at the Luxe Sunset you will notice that there are two separate buildings where you can book a room, the lower and the upper building.

The pool is located next to the upper building, so if you want to spend no more than 10 seconds before you splash into the pool, that is where you’d want to stay. We stayed in the building at the bottom of the hill and actually quite enjoyed the shuttle ride up the hill to the pool.

We enjoyed our very large room (especially compared with other luxury hotels in LA) with a very comfortable bed and large bathroom. But if you’re in LA, you don’t stay much in your room because the pool is where it’s at! The Luxe has a lovely pool with great sun beds, that I especially liked because of the thick, super comfy mattress. The pretty cabana lounges around the pool provide lovely shade and in the days I spent here, it was usually fairly quiet, which I really enjoyed.

Special features I didn’t really try out were the outdoor fitness center (next to the pool in a temporary move, due to remodeling) and the restaurant, where I only enjoyed a lovely lunch but didn’t have dinner. That’s because the hotel is not only located between Beverly Hills and hot spots like Venice and Santa Monica, but also on the edge of Brentwood, which features a number of great restaurants. I highly recommend the Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel as a perfect home away from home when you are staying in LA, whether it’s for business or pleasure!

  1. Wow this place looks so comfortable and elegant! I like that pool area. I can definitely see myself relaxing there and enjoying a cocktail or two. I haven’t been to LA in a while, but I always enjoy going there. I really like that watch you have on in one of the pictures. It looks really nice and the pinkish color of the band is really pretty. Goes nicely with your other bracelets!
