A few years ago I had a wonderful time at the Grand Park Kodhipparu Maldives, a Grand Park property in a remarkable location. The Grand Park Orchard in Singapore is the flagship property of the Grand Park Hotels and was awarded as Asia’s Leading Design Hotel, so I was really looking forward to staying there in the heart of Orchard Road, another incredible location but obviously entirely different, as a city hotel.

ROOM AND CLUB ROOM //
Since we were staying at a Crystal Club room, we were quickly brought up to the exclusive check in counter in the Crystal Club Lounge on the 11th floor. A Crystal Club level room comes with a lot of perks, like breakfast, afternoon tea, evening cocktails and a lot of snacks, coffee and tea during the day. Other perks I really like are the daily turndown service at sunset, because it is really nice to come back to a neat room after dinner, and the 3pm late checkout.

I liked having the choice of having breakfast in the intimate setting of the Crystal Club Lounge, or going to Mitzo restaurant downstairs for the full buffet. To be honest, the breakfast options at the Crystal Club Lounge are more than enough for me (and amazing quality!), with both Western and Asian breakfast options, salads and cereals. But the sumptuous breakfast at Mitzo was just spectacular and hard to resist, more on that later 😉

We made afternoon tea at the Crystal Club Lounge another daily stop on our schedule, with a delicate selection of sweet and savory treats. And since the boyfriend is a big coffee drinker even after dinner, it was usually our last stop of the day as well.

I loved the view over Orchard Road from the Crystal Club Lounge, but all guest rooms at the Grand Park Orchard have a brilliant view. The high ceilings and beautiful herringbone glass facade help create a lovely view, yet the most important thing for me is always the bed and this one was super comfortable! There are many nice design touches like the see through window between the bedroom and the bathroom, which can be closed if you prefer it that way.

MITZO RESTAURANT //
Mitzo is not just the breakfast restaurant at the Grand Park Orchard, it is an upscale Chinese restaurant with a modern twist on Cantonese cuisine. The best way to describe the interior would probably be ‘funky’, with bright colors and shiny surfaces. The bar has a signature aquarium featuring real jellyfish, that doubles as a wall with a private dining room behind it!

We enjoyed an exquisite lunch with some signature dishes and I have to mention the artisanal cocktails that Azlam, the cocktail grand wizard, created for us. Let me be very clear about it: even if you don’t stay at the Grand Park Orchard when you are visiting Singapore, at least make sure to have lunch or dinner at Mitzo.

Here is the menu we loved and still often talk about:
–
Double braised fish maw soup; it did not only taste amazing, it is also a secret Chinese beauty soup because fish maw is collagen packed
–
Roasted coffee pork neck (yes, a roasted coffee pork neck) served with crispy bean curd skin and Chinese pancakes
–
Pan fried scallops with milk & egg white, topped with crispy scallops
–
Crispy roast pork belly
–
Wagyu beef
–
XO fried rice with lobster meat, vegetables and mushrooms
–
Rock melon mango sago puree and lime sorbet served with chilled hokkaido milk cheese tarte
